At The Heart

 

In May of 2009, I received a custom order from a friend of a friend named Heather. When it was time to bill Heather for her order, I found out that her 3 year old son, Jarren, had just been diagnosed with cancer. How do you help someone who is hurting so much? As a mother of two, I could only imagine the pain she was enduring. I gave Heather her necklace as a gift along with my thoughts and prayers. Jarren passed away November of 2010 after an 18 month battle with cancer.

Heather told me that nothing in the world could make a mother who has lost a child feel better…but she said that her necklace—wearing her children’s names close to her heart—somehow gave her comfort. And hence, AT THE HEART was born.

 

HOW IT WORKS

Email Q Handmade if you know of someone (or are someone) who has a child battling (or who has battled cancer) and would like a necklace. When you apply via email, you are agreeing to allowing Q Handmade share your story on the site. This helps promote awareness for these various cancers & how folks can help.

Please make sure to include the following:

The Child’s name, Mother’s name (& mailing address). Other siblings–list in order–oldest to youngest (please include the child battling cancer so Q knows how to order them on the TWIST), a link to caring bridge or any other site where folks can go to learn more or donate. Thank you.
